Wrestling veteran discusses LA Knight's awkward moment in the ring; claims it caught his attention (Exclusive)
WWE United States Champion LA Knight kicked off SmackDown with a title defense this week. Former WWE manager Dutch Mantell reviewed the show and discussed the match in detail.
Knight and Andrade put on a television classic this week. The two stars gave it their all in the ring but the Megastar prevailed with a brutal BFT to his opponent, retaining the title. After the match, Knight went for a fist bump, but Andrade extended a handshake. The US Champion was hesitant, and the challenger forced him to shake hands before walking out of the ring. The whole exchange came off looking unplanned and awkward.
On the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, Mantell pointed out that it was possibly done to grab the fans' attention. He felt maybe there was more to their story and this was not a one-off encounter. The wrestling veteran mentioned there could be more character development for LA Knight and Andrade in the coming weeks.
"It made you notice it. I noticed it. He doesn't do it often, right? LA Knight didn't offer to shake hands. So I'm thinking where is this going? So they left something open there. I want us to pay attention to it, okay?" [19:38 onwards]
With this win, LA Knight has notched up another successful title defense since winning the gold at SummerSlam.
It will be interesting to see who lines up next to challenge the Megastar on SmackDown.
