Wrestling veteran reveals special scenario that could impact the result of Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens (Exclusive)
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently discussed Cody Rhodes' match against Kevin Owens this weekend. The two stars are set to compete at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14.
Over the last few months, Owens has not been impressed by some of Rhodes' decisions. He expressed his frustration by attacking The American Nightmare in the parking area after Bad Blood 2024. Since then, The Prizefighter has been on a mission to take down the champion and prove to everyone that he is wrong.
This week on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing with Russo, the veteran writer explained that since this was a huge comeback for the show, WWE might want to send fans home happy with the babyface going over. Vince Russo felt Owens possibly had a chance if this wasn't the first time, but Cody Rhodes would eventually come out as the winner.
"I just think it's the first Saturday Night's Main Event, they gotta send people home happy I think. Maybe if it wasn't the first. I think they'd gotta put Cody over, probably last match of the night." [From 0:30 onwards]
The animosity between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens has completely derailed their friendship. The two are now at each other's throats, with the fate of the Undisputed WWE Title hanging in the balance.
It will be interesting to see who walks out of Saturday Night's Main Event as SmackDown's top champion.
