Wrestling veteran says Nick Aldis as SmackDown GM reminds him of WWE legend (Exclusive)

Bill Apter recently stated that watching Nick Aldis as the SmackDown general manager reminded him of William Regal as the authority figure of WWE NXT.

Regal, one of the greatest on-screen officials in WWE history, served as NXT's general manager from 2014 to 2022. The wrestling legend's commanding presence made him a beloved and revered figure among the show's viewers. Aldis, too, has adopted a similar no-nonsense approach to his role as SmackDown's general manager.

On the latest episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine podcast, Bill Apter spoke about Nick Aldis being introduced as the blue brand's general manager by Triple H. The Hall of Fame journalist added that seeing the 36-year-old performer in the role brought to mind the great William Regal as the authority figure of NXT.

"With Nick Aldis, am I the only one who thought that it was reminiscent of William Regal being a general manager?" said Bill Apter. [2:18 - 2:27]

Adam Pearce on Nick Aldis being appointed as WWE SmackDown GM

On his recent appearance on WWE's The Bump, RAW general manager Adam Pearce was asked about having Nick Aldis as his counterpart over on SmackDown. Pearce said he was excited about the future as the two managers and shows would be competing against each other to present the best viewing experience for fans.

"Now I'm not competing with myself anymore. I have somebody else to look at. We can play that chess game; we can see who, in fact, will make their broadcast the number one sports entertainment broadcast on the planet. I'm betting on me, and I've got a headstart."

Nick Aldis ousted Adam Pearce from last week's SmackDown, after which the latter dropped hints at RAW and the blue brand going to war at Survivor Series.
