Wrestling veteran says underrated 40-year-old RAW star could be a surprising opponent for Roman Reigns (Exclusive)

Roman Reigns is seemingly running out of challengers in WWE. For nearly 1000 days, every opponent of Reigns has come and gone without the title. Seth Rollins is the only one who technically defeated him, but it was via disqualification. Wrestling veteran Bill Apter was full of praise for one particular RAW star, who he believes can be a credible opponent for The Tribal Chief.

That superstar is none other than Damian Priest of The Judgment Day. On the latest episode of The Wrestling Time Machine, co-host Mac Davis praised Damian Priest, who he believes is operating on another level right now. He even suggested that The Archer of Infamy could be a big enough star to face Roman Reigns.

Bill Apter agreed with Davis' sentiment and said that based on his promo on the second night of the WWE Draft, he could see Damian Priest becoming a main event player to potentially take on Roman Reigns:

"He's a really good talent. I've known him since the indie days. He's worked his way up old school, so to say, working the indies for so many years. And I hope he becomes a mega superstar. And during his promo that he did in the ring [on the Draft episode of RAW], I felt the same way you [Mac Davis] did - he was main event Damian Priest." (11:07 - 11:30)

The Tribal Chief is seemingly going to have an interesting year ahead. With the WWE Draft rosters now taking effect, he has a handful of new challengers he hasn't faced before during his title reign.

That said, many believe he will make it another year as Universal Champion and walk into WrestleMania 40 with the coveted title.

Rumor has it that Cody Rhodes will have to wait another year to "finish the story," as he could very well be the man to dethrone Reigns in Philadelphia.
