Wrestling veteran says WWE are "out of their minds" about major Cody Rhodes problem at SummerSlam (Exclusive)
Cody Rhodes is set to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Solo Sikoa at SummerSlam. According to an ex-writer and wrestling veteran, WWE is in a catch-22 situation and thinks they're "out of their minds" due to a major issue.
On the latest episode of Writing with Russo, wrestling veteran Vince Russo spoke briefly about the Undisputed WWE Championship Match that will headline SummerSlam. The speculation is that Cody Rhodes will likely retain his title, and the match will set up the return of Roman Reigns after four months.
According to Vince Russo, WWE has backed themselves into a corner because they can't afford to have Cody Rhodes lose and it will be detrimental for Solo Sikoa to lose as well. He thinks that booking them against each other was a bad decision and quoted Vince McMahon's old philosophy:
"I think they've backed themselves into a corner in a lot of ways. Obviously, you can't beat Cody [Rhodes] right now and you really don't want to beat Solo [Sikoa] right now because you want Solo whole for when [Roman] Reigns comes back. [If] They [WWE] think Cody beating Solo and then the heels getting their heat back, if they think that's going to protect Solo, they're out of their freaking minds. Out of their minds. So obviously bro, you're going to beat Cody with the first real contender I guess you could say since he's had since he won the title? Yeah, he could beat AJ and everybody else, but he's not gonna beat Solo? On the other hand, Vince [McMahon] used to say 'You can't take the rose off the bloom'. You can't take the rose of the bloom for Solo because you want that for Roman Reigns." [From 00:39 to 01:43]

Cody Rhodes revealed why he abruptly left WWE in 2016
Cody's departure from WWE in 2016 turned out to be one the most incredibly calculated moves a wrestler has made in the 21st century, especially considering how it all worked out.
During a conversation with Diamond Dallas Page on the DDP Yoga YouTube channel, Cody Rhodes explained his decision to abruptly leave WWE in 2016 and said:
"So I couldn't verbalize it, but that's exactly what it was. Which is why it was so abrupt how I left. Now because of how I left, they don't let abrupt departures happen this way so, sorry. I literally put a post out before my release papers were even done like I'm done, that's it because I needed to put it in the air and put it in writing. So that I was held to it, go ahead sue me if you want but I gotta be held to this. I cannot function in this spot," he said.
Rhodes elaborated by saying that he was in a position where he felt he couldn't work any harder. He felt like he was regressing because he was in a spot where it was impossible to move forward. The American Nightmare certainly turned that around in the six years that followed.
