Wrestling veteran thinks WWE has backstage problems with Damian Priest (Exclusive)
Damian Priest seems to be doing incredible right now, with his popularity as World Heavyweight Champion scaling new heights. A wrestling veteran, however, thinks that WWE has a backstage issue with him.
On the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing with Russo, Vince Russo and host Dr. Chris Featherstone questioned the logic of booking Seth Rollins as the special guest referee for the CM Punk-Drew McIntyre match at SummerSlam.
According to both of them, Rollins would have been a better fit in the World Heavyweight Title match, as he could have been the one to get pinned, allowing WWE to protect Damian Priest and Gunther. Russo believed neither Priest nor The Ring General should be losing.
Russo said something was suspicious and speculated that Damian Priest's kick-out botch at Money in the Bank was the reason why he was being punished. The former writer believed Priest was being set up for failure despite being a nice person.
"That's why I'm saying. When things don't add up like you just laid out, there's more than meets the eye. When things don't add up bro, I'm telling you, that's when something stinks. I can feel they're setting this guy [Damian Priest] up for failure and it freaking kills me because we've been saying from day one, there's money written all over this guy. I've said this a million times, if you're a nice guy, you're going to get eaten alive by the wrestling business. And Priest really comes across as a straight-up nice guy." (7:53 - 8:37)

Damian Priest is set for a huge World Heavyweight Title defense against a WWE legend in Tokyo
El Campeon is having quite a run outside of the United States this year. One of his next challengers is the legendary Rey Mysterio. It was reported by PWInsider that Rey was getting his first world title match in a year as he was set to face Damian Priest.
Rey Mysterio defeated his son Dominik in their second singles match but suffered a pinfall loss to him for the first time on RAW in a mixed tag team bout that also included Zelina Vega and Liv Morgan.
It seemed like the contest ended the feud between the LWO and The Judgment Day. Zelina Vega also failed to become the Women's World Champion.
