WWE abruptly ends segment as Gunther is taken out by top heel on RAW; face turn continues to be teased
Gunther, the King of the Ring and World Heavyweight Title contender, opened the show in Green Bay, Wisconsin, for RAW. The segment ended abruptly after he was taken out, and a face turn continued to be teased. The top heel who took out Gunther is Damian Priest.
This week, the show kicked off with The Ring General, who began insulting everybody - including the audience, who gave rather strong negative reactions. The main source of his trash talk was Damian Priest - the man he's challenging for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam on August 3. He even called Priest out to simply hand him the title.
Damian Priest would come out, and while teasing, opening his mouth to say something, he chose to strike Gunther instead. Priest received a largely positive reaction from the Wisconsin crowd despite being one of WWE's top heels. The attack led to a brawl, and things escalated, with WWE cutting the segment off abruptly.
However, things didn't end here. The brawl would continue backstage, where The Ring General seemed to get a slight upper hand. However, they were still separated in the end as they needed to be.
Brawls that escalate to this level tend to be exclusively for the biggest feuds. This one has done very well so far.
El Campeon's World Title reign has been a huge success so far.
