WWE allegedly refused to let recently released stars go home for personal reasons
Before a couple of WWE stars were released, they tried to ask for some time off to go back home for personal reasons. However, the company did not permit them to leave before ultimately cutting ties in April 2024.
Veer and Sanga, collectively known as Indus Sher, were among several talents released in April, a few weeks after WrestleMania 40. They were let go alongside their manager Jinder Mahal, as well as superstars such as Xia Li and Xyon Quinn.
In an interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, The Modern Day Maharaja opened up about his release along with Indus Sher. Mahal explained that Veer and Sanga wanted to go home to India for personal reasons, and they spoke to WWE talent relations about it.
"So actually, during WrestleMania [XL] week, myself and Indus Sher, we talked to TR. They were wanting to go back to India, a few months prior Veer had a religious event that he holds, it was a [sic] one-year anniversary of his father's death. He got told that no. We were needed for RAW, he can't go back home. Sanga is also from India. He wants to go back home and we were told no, we were needed on RAW. And sure enough, we weren't booked, we were just sitting at home," Mahal said. [H/T: chrisvanvliet.com]
As for Jinder Mahal, he was frustrated that WWE didn't use him more after his confrontation with The Rock and the World Heavyweight Championship match with Seth Rollins. He told management sometime after Royal Rumble 2024 that if he was not going to be used, they could "part ways."
Jinder Mahal has no hard feelings with WWE following his second release
In the same interview with Chris Van Vliet, Jinder Mahal was asked about the difference between his first and second releases from WWE.
Mahal believed he was in a better position now than when he was let go after his run with 3MB. The former champion said he had accomplished a lot during his second stint and earned a significant amount of money.
"This one is much different. I am a grown man now. (...) It's just, I'm at a different point in my life. I'm at peace with it. I've had a great career because at that time when I got released, the best thing I had done at that point was being in 3MB. Now I’ve been a WWE Champion. I've been in WrestleMania, headlined PPVs. I've done everything. I have traveled the world, and I'm in a different place financially," Mahal said. [H/T: chrisvanvliet.com]
Jinder Mahal is set to return to the ring on July 26 at Black Label Pro Wrestling against Kevin Ku for the BLP Championship. He is also set to team up with Satnam Singh at Triplemania XXXII: Mexico City on August 17 and face La Dinastia Casas-Alvarado and La Dinastia Wagner for the AAA World Tag Team Championship in a three-way match.
