WWE announces major rematch for SmackDown
The upcoming edition of WWE SmackDown is scheduled to air live from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. The wrestling promotion has announced a major rematch for tonight's show.
On the September 6 edition of the blue brand, Giovanni Vinci made his return to WWE television. The 34-year-old locked horns with Apollo Crews in a singles match on his SmackDown debut. In a surprising turn of events, the contest lasted only four seconds with the former Intercontinental Champion pinning the Italian to secure the quick-fire win.
The former Imperium member was visibly disappointed after the embarrassing loss on his much-awaited return to television. Vinci now has an opportunity to redeem himself as the Stamford-based company announced a rematch between the two for tonight's edition of Friday Night SmackDown on their official website.

Veteran journalist claims Giovanni Vinci looked similar to former WWE Superstar on recent show
On the April 22 edition of Monday Night RAW, Imperium's Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser lost to The New Day. After the match, Kaiser attacked his tag team partner to kick him out of the faction. The former NXT Tag Team Champion was absent from in-ring action until his embarrassing loss on his SmackDown debut earlier this month.
The WWE creative received a lot of criticism for oddly booking Giovanni Vinci to suffer a loss at the hands of Apollo Crews. However, on a recent edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk show, veteran journalist, Bill Apter, stated he was happy that the undervalued, Apollo Crews, won the match. He appreciated the former United States Champion while claiming that Vinci looked similar to Claudio Castagnoli (fka Cesaro).
"First of all, I'm glad to see Apollo Crews finally has won something; he is so undervalued, he really is, and underrated. With Vinci, it's amazing because he was part of the Imperium. They didn't even bring that up tonight. He looks different, and he kind of looks like Claudio Castagnoli," Apter said. [From 23:04 to 23:34]
