WWE asks interesting question about recently debuted legendary duo ahead of major match on SmackDown

WWE asked an interesting question about a legendary duo ahead of a major match tonight on SmackDown. The promotion is currently building towards the Crown Jewel Premium Live Event on November 2.

Motor City Machine Guns made their debut on the blue brand last week and picked up an impressive victory. Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin defeated A-Town Down Under and Los Garza last Friday. The duo will be facing DIY's Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano tonight to determine the next opponents for the WWE Tag Team Champions Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa of The Bloodline.

Ahead of the high-stakes match on SmackDown, WWE shared a video of the Motor City Machine Guns arriving at the Barclays Center for tonight's show. The promotion wondered if the duo would be able to overcome DIY to become the number one contender for the tag titles.

"Can the Motor City Machine Guns become No. 1 Contenders to the WWE Tag Team Championship TONIGHT on #SmackDown? 🤔," wrote the promotion.

Veteran reacts to Motor City Machine Guns signing with WWE

Wrestling veteran Vince Russo recently shared his thoughts on Motor City Machine Guns joining the Stamford-based promotion. Sabin and Shelley have had remarkable careers in the wrestling business.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing with Russo show, the former head writer for the global juggernaut noted that the popular tag team influenced today's style of wrestling. However, Russo added that the said style was no longer special and that the duo didn't stand out anymore.

"Here's the problem, though. They were one of the first tag teams to utilize that style. Everybody uses it now, so it's not special. Like I said, man, I was watching them do things on this show today that Gargano and Ciampa just did 30 minutes ago. That's what made them special, bro, they were doing that stuff, I mean, literally 10, 15 years ago, man, before anybody else was doing it. Now everybody's doing it," he said. [2:19 – 2:49]
