WWE booking 38-year-old to win major title at Clash at the Castle would be "psychotic," says Freddie Prinze Jr.
Several WWE championships will be defended at Clash at the Castle: Scotland this Saturday in Glasgow, Scotland. Meanwhile, former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. believes one of these titles must not change hands.
The title in question is the Intercontinental Championship. Current champion Sami Zayn will defend it against Chad Gable at the premium live event in Scotland. However, the leader of Alpha Academy is reportedly now a free agent after his contract expired on June 7, 2024. Hence, Prinze Jr. believes the 38-year-old cannot win the championship this Saturday.
On his Wrestling with Freddie podcast, the 48-year-old stated that the company, under Triple H's creative leadership, would not book someone who is not under contract to win a championship, claiming it would be "psychotic" to do so.
"Because his contract is up, I don't see any situation where he can win. So, that should be the easiest bet of the week unless somehow somebody knows that he's secretly re-signed already. But you can't give the title to somebody who's not under contract. That would be psychotic. So, I don't know. Maybe he's resigned and they just haven't announced it yet and nobody's found out yet. But if you find out and you wanna have a little wager with your friends, I would definitely not bet on Chad Gable. I would bet against the man," he said. [11:50 - 12:17]

Will Chad Gable stay in WWE?
On an episode of the Cafe de Rene podcast, former Tag Team Champion Rene Dupree addressed Chad Gable's future and the possibility of him jumping ship to AEW.
The former member of La Resistance claimed that the leader of the Alpha Academy would be smart to stay in the Stamford-based company, especially since Vince McMahon was no longer with WWE. He predicted the promotion had big plans for the talented superstar.
"Chad Gable will be smart to stay. I think they got plans for him. He's a hell of a talent. I mean, not the biggest guy, especially now that Vince is gone, you know what I mean, because if Vince was still there, Chad would be gone. Chad would be signing with AEW," he said. [6:34 - 6:49]
Former WWE host Matt Camp believes Chad Gable already has an agreement with the company to sign a new deal despite not being official yet. It would be interesting to see if his prediction is correct.
