WWE can use LA Knight's popularity creatively during latest feud with major star, feels wrestling legend (Exclusive)
Former WWE manager Dutch Mantell spoke about LA Knight challenging for the United States Championship. The star has been hugely popular over the last 12 months.
This week on SmackDown, Knight walked out to the ring with a contract in hand. He told the WWE Universe that General Manager Nick Aldis had already signed and approved his match for the United States championship at SummerSlam. Knight signed the contract and called out Logan Paul to complete the formalities.
On the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, Mantell pointed out that Knight was massively over with the fans. He felt that when the crowd was behind the stars, it gave WWE options to book the feud creatively.
"LA Knight, he's over. He gets in the ring, points the finger and he goes LA Knight, the people all respond to him. So, the guys are over. When you have people like that, if you don't outrun yourself with the booking you can almost do anything with it." [20:53 onwards]
This week, The Maverick didn't show up to the blue brand. However, it will be interesting to see what he says about this matchup and whether he signs the contract to make the bout official.
