WWE champion promises major SummerSlam surprise
WWE's 37th annual SummerSlam PLE is just over one week away. The rivalries are heating up as superstars prepare for The Biggest Party of The Summer. This new era of WWE has been full of surprises and swerves, and word now is that SummerSlam will be no different.
Cleveland is home to a few top WWE Superstars, including Logan Paul, The Miz, and Johnny Gargano. Paul is set to defend his United States Championship against LA Knight at SummerSlam, in what will be the first-ever singles match between the two. This will be just the second title defense since Logan dethroned Rey Mysterio at Crown Jewel back on November 4.
The Maverick appeared on tonight's SmackDown and tried to interfere during Knight's match against Santos Escobar. Knight got the win, but after the match, he was double-teamed by the heels. Paul later spoke with Byron Saxton backstage and talked about how he would take care of Knight at SummerSlam. The social media star also mentioned how he got off the phone with Mr. Cleveland himself, and this mystery person has a "surprise Logan Paul homecoming" planned.
The Maverick would not elaborate on the homecoming, but he has continued to tease surprises for his hometown performance at SummerSlam. Paul went on to declare himself the pride of Cleveland and declared that Knight was not ready for him. He ended the promo by mocking The Defiant One's signature "Yeah!" catchphrase.
WWE has since announced a homecoming for Paul on next week's SummerSlam go-home edition of SmackDown. The episode will air live from the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland.
