WWE champion responds after firing shots at CM Punk and showing support for Drew McIntyre
WWE Superstar CM Punk is involved in a highly physical feud with Drew McIntyre right now. The Straight Edge Superstar had a win at Bash in Berlin following his SummerSlam loss. Interestingly, a reigning WWE champion switched sides from Team Punk to Team McIntyre during his NXT appearance.
NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez interrupted CM Punk when he was about to make an announcement for the brand's first show on the CW Network. The Prodigy reiterated how big of a Punk fan she was and how surreal it was for her to share a ring with The Second City Saint.
However, she suddenly changed her tone and said she should have been a Drew McIntyre fan instead. Roxy assumed that The Best in the World was also one of the people trying to shine more spotlight on Giulia than her.
WWE added a tweet on X complaining about Punk not making his announcement because of Perez’s interruption. Responding to the tweet, The Prodigy established that NXT was her territory.
“Remember when I said this is my show,” wrote Perez.
What was CM Punk going to say about NXT’s CW move?
Before the interruption of Roxanne Perez, CM Punk had a great bonding moment with the NXT fans. He said that while he loved watching the show and had often sneaked in with a disguise to watch live, he had never been in the NXT ring before.
He also said that since the first episode of the developmental brand’s CW Network show will be held in his hometown of Chicago, he wanted to be involved in its events. The Best in the World also highlighted that he has already received Shawn Michaels' approval. On top of it, HBK even said that CM Punk could do whatever he wanted to. Toward the show's end, The Best in the World finally made his announcement.
Punk was the official Special Guest Referee for the NXT Championship match between Ethan Page and Trick Williams. Previously, he also noted the rugged Shawn Michaels of 1995 permitted him to do whatever he wanted. Hence, it can be assumed that October 1, 2024, will feature many great matches and segments.
While things weren’t about Giulia before, Perez’s interference made things about her later. The Beautiful Madness again faced off with Roxy and said the countdown to the end of the title reign was on for her.
It would be interesting to see if The Prodigy can fend off Giulia after picking a fight with Punk.
