WWE champion used CM Punk as a stepping stone to become a bigger star, believes veteran

Wrestling veteran Bully Ray recently shared his two cents on CM Punk's massive appearance on WWE NXT where he was confronted by a 22-year-old star. The name in question is the reigning NXT Women's Champion, Roxanne Perez.

The September 17, 2024, episode of the white-and-gold brand, which aired on the USA Network, featured a special appearance by The Second City Saint. Punk praised Shawn Michaels and the management team for their efforts in developing young talent on NXT.

The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion's promo was cut short by Roxanne Perez. She took a dig at Punk, stating that she likes his wife AJ Lee more, and also wished she was a fan of Drew McIntyre.

On a recent episode of the Busted Open podcast, Bully Ray suggested that The Prodigy made a strategic decision to use The Voice of the Voiceless' presence to raise her star power during their confrontation.

"Roxanne Perez used CM Punk last night (on NXT) to become a bigger star," he said. [From 11:26 to 11:33]

Real-life Bloodline member makes a shocking statement about CM Punk's promo on WWE RAW

On the September 16, 2024, installment of Monday Night RAW, a serious CM Punk appeared before the crowd. The Second City saint announced that, despite his wife and sister's objections, he would face Drew McIntyre in the Hell in a Cell Match and was prepared to inflict significant pain on his opponent.

Speaking exclusively with Sportskeeda Wrestling, Afa Anoa'i Jr. noted that he found the former WWE Champion's recent promo on RAW to be too serious and monotonous. He praised Punk's promotional skills but expressed his preference for a more engaging and dynamic style.

"Yeah, how did you like that one? That one was a little monotone for me. I mean, Punk's a great promo guy and all, but just that, the whole seriousness, it just felt like a drag too much," Afa said.

It remains to be seen if The Voice of the Voiceless will manage to defeat The Scottish Warrior at WWE's Bad Blood Premium Live Event on October 5, 2024, to finally put their rivalry to bed.
