WWE clearly backing Motor City Machine Guns after historic SmackDown win; claims wrestling journalist (Exclusive)
Sportskeeda Senior Editor and wrestling journalist Bill Apter discussed The Motor City Machine Guns winning the WWE Tag Team Championships on SmackDown. The faction won back-to-back matches on the blue brand this Friday.
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin defeated #DIY in a hard-fought matchup to become the number one contenders. However, The Bloodline walked down to the ring and goaded the duo into challenging for the title then and there. Shelley and Sabin accepted the challenge and the match got underway. During the encounter, the likes of Jimmy Uso, Roman Reigns, and Jey Uso, all showed up to ensure that Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa lost the titles.
After this week's SmackDown, Apter claimed that the win showed how much WWE has invested in the duo. By defeating The Bloodline on SmackDown, the Machine Guns proved they deserved the titles. Bill also noted that it was rare for a team to win championship gold so quickly, making this a significant moment for the tandem's career.
"It was amazing. The WWE has invested so much on the Motor City Machine Guns that after only three matches, they are given the WWE Tag Team Championships. I've never seen that done in all my years watching WWE," Apter said.
With this win, The Motor City Machine Guns have made a huge statement that could change the landscape of the division. Even WWE Chief Content Officer, Triple H, congratulated the team for winning championship gold three matches in.
It will be interesting to see how the company books the duo and how long they can hold on to the WWE Tag Team Championships.
