WWE confirms a new era will be ushered in on RAW
WWE confirmed a new era will begin during tonight's edition of RAW following SummerSlam. Tonight's show will air live from Baltimore, Maryland.
The promotion is coming off of an eventful SummerSlam this past Friday night in Ohio. There were six title matches during the Premium Live Event, and several new champions were crowned.
Gunther defeated Damian Priest to win the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. Finn Balor was ringside for the match but betrayed his Judgment Day stablemate. WWE announced that a new era will begin tonight on RAW with The Ring General as World Heavyweight Champion.
"TONIGHT on #WWERaw We usher in a new era on the red brand with @Gunther_AUT as World Heavyweight Champion."
It was also announced earlier today that Gunther's Imperium stablemate, Ludwig Kaiser, will be returning to action tonight on WWE RAW. The veteran suffered a broken rib on the June 24 edition of the red brand but will be making his return tonight to battle Sheamus in a singles match.
Sam Roberts claims WWE RAW star could challenge Gunther at WrestleMania
Media personality Sam Roberts believes Jey Uso could challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41.
Speaking on his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Roberts floated the idea of Jey Uso challenging Gunther for the title at The Show of Shows next year in Las Vegas. He noted that Jey Uso could win the 2025 Men's Royal Rumble match to earn a title shot at WrestleMania next year.
"Now more than ever I'm going, okay, spend the rest of this year doing your Bloodline stuff, whatever you gotta do. If Jey Uso wins the Royal Rumble and goes to WrestleMania to face Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship, you couldn't finally get to that culmination? I mean, Jey Uso vs. Gunther, with Gunther saying, 'I beat you in the King of the Ring. I beat you when I was Intercontinental Champion. What makes you think?' And Jey just like having to once again find Main Event Jey Uso. And maybe there's a new camaraderie with Roman Reigns," he said. [55:04 - 55:44]

The leader of Imperium put together a historic reign as Intercontinental Champion before he was finally dethroned by Sami Zayn earlier this year at WWE WrestleMania XL. Only time will tell how long the 36-year-old can hold onto the World Heavyweight Championship moving forward.
