WWE destroyed Gunther on this week's RAW, according to veteran wrestling writer (Exclusive)
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo feels that Gunther's character was completely ruined on the latest episode of RAW. The 37-year-old star was present on the show, confronting his next challenger.
The Ring General kicked off the show this week, claiming he was still the champion. He was interrupted by the number-one contender for his title, Damian Priest. The Archer of Infamy declared that the Austrian star was losing his shine, claiming that the latter was full of doubt after his loss to Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel 2024 and had no chance of defeating the former.
While speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW podcast, Russo pointed out that Gunther had the opportunity to get reactions by attacking the babyface. However, the 63-year-old veteran felt that WWE missed the chance to put heat on The Ring General's vicious heel persona. He felt that the creative team was not building top heels anymore, resulting in none of the stars getting over with fans.
"Again man, you know, you got Gunther out there twice tonight. You got two opportunities to put heat on the heel and you don't put heat on the heel either time. I don't understand how anybody gets over with no heat on the heels. Everything's gotta start with heat on the heels," Vince Russo said. [6:36 - 6:58]
