WWE Hall of Famer hated Sable and wanted to 'kill' her, veteran says (Exclusive)
Sable might have been a very popular name among WWE fans during her prime, but some of her peers despised her. Recently, speaking about Luna Vachon, Vince Russo revealed how the late great female star wanted to legitimately hurt Sable.
This week's episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws revolved around Gangrel and his fascinating character. Gangrel was married to Luna Vachon for many years until their separation in 2006. While discussing their relationship, Vince Russo briefly recalled how unpredictable Vachon was.
Russo labeled Luna Vachon "old school" and noted that she didn't like talents who were brought in to push the Divas movement in women's wrestling. Due to her ideology, Luna apparently hated Sable and Sunny in the WWE, as Vince disclosed below:
"Luna was not chemically balanced, okay? Here lied the problem, Chris. That was the Diva movement. You had Sunny and Sable there. Luna was as old school as it got. She despised them." [From 06:38 to 07:03]
Vince Russo said that WWE wanted Sable and Luna Vachon to work together, and while the feud eventually happened, it was a chaotic program to execute.
Russo said that there was a phase where apparently Luna legitimately wanted to kill Sable, and their then-husbands, Marc Mero and Gangrel, had to step in and "control their wives."
"Bro, we were trying to get Luna and Sable to work together; Luna wanted to, as a shoot, kill Sable. So, we literally had Marcnon one side, and David [Gangrel] on the other, that both had to control their wives, so we could do business." [From 07:04 to 07:30]
Vince Russo says Gangrel spent a lot of time controlling WWE legend Luna Vachon
As he predominantly worked in the WWE during the Attitude Era, Vince Russo saw Gangrel and Luna Vachon's relationship blossom.
Vachon, who led a troubled personal life and sadly passed away at the age of 48, was married to Gangrel for 12 years. Vince Russo disclosed that the 55-year-old veteran was very patient and went out of his way to control his wife.
Vince Russo admitted that Vachon had a "short fuse," and it might have been hard to deal with her at times. Russo, however, had the utmost respect for Gangrel and how he carried himself as a husband:
"Bro, I will say this, man! He [Gangrel] spent a lot of his time controlling her. Bro, [he had] the patience of a saint. I don't know about you, I would not want the job of controlling Luna Vachon. That job I would not want. That's what he did. He was a saint, because she had a very, very short fuse, man. Sweat hear of a woman, but!" [From 06:22 to 06:37]
Luna Vachon was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame's legacy wing in 2019. She might have had her issues with some top stars, such as Brock Lesnar's wife, Sable, but Vachon remains a highly influential name in women's pro wrestling.
