WWE Hall of Famer says CM Punk "can do no wrong," recalls show of respect
CM Punk's WWE return in late November 2023 was as surreal as surreal gets. Nobody could have anticipated it before. Having completed one year in World Wrestling Entertainment, Punk has garnered a good reputation.
WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page is a self-proclaimed CM Punk fan. He recalled a backstage meeting they had, during which The Straight Edge Superstar expressed gratitude to him for being a legend in the business.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, DDP revealed that the younger talents were directed to thank those who are under WWE Legends contract instead of greeting them. He thought it was very special for Punk to walk up to him and do the same because, unlike others who may not even recognize the Hall of Famer, the Chicago native is now a veteran of the business himself:
"It was really cool for me because I'm a fan of CM Punk. Just his whole Punk-ism. How he is so over with the people. He literally came up to me, when he saw me, 'Hey, DDP,' gave me a hug, and he goes—he literally said that. He said, 'Hey man, just wanted to welcome you and thank you.' That was super cool, Punk. And I got a lot of respect for him anyway because it is amazing to me, like, the grip he has on the people. He can do no wrong, man," Page said. [From 46:52 to 47:31]
In 2024, The Second City Saint won the "Feud of the Year" from WWE for his program with Drew McIntyre. They concluded their nine-month rivalry at Bad Blood in October inside Hell in a Cell.
CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins is being considered to headline WWE RAW's Netflix debut
There was an earlier report by Sportskeeda Wrestling's Dr. Chris Featherstone regarding CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins being planned for WWE RAW on January 6, 2025. This was confirmed by WrestleVotes.
During a Live Q&A on Backstage Pass, WrestleVotes revealed that the company has penciled in for the first episode of RAW next year, which also marks the show's debut on the Netflix streaming platform. However, he noted that it is not set in stone as of this writing:
"I followed up on that report. I got back from one source that they haven't decided completely. And I got back from another source [that said] 'looks that way.' So, it's clearly on the table. It's trending towards that for January 6th."
Recently, wrestling veterans Konnan and Disco Inferno said they would not be surprised if the end goal for WrestleMania 41 is CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns after what transpired in the past few weeks.
