WWE Hall of Famer wants Triple H to put the World Heavyweight Title on 45-year-old star
A former WWE name thinks Triple H must push a RAW Superstar to the moon, given he's healthy. Bully Ray believes if CM Punk is injury-free, the company shouldn't hesitate to crown him as the World Heavyweight Champion.
The Second City Saint last competed in the 2024 Men's Royal Rumble match, where he suffered a torn triceps, which put him out of action for months. Despite this, Punk's rivalry with Drew McIntyre has only gotten more compelling. After CM Punk cost Drew McIntyre a chance to win the World Heavyweight Title at Clash at the Castle 2024, the latter brutalized him on last week's SmackDown.
If Punk recovers in time, the two could finally go to war at SummerSlam 2024. Speaking on the Busted Open Radio podcast, Bully Ray explained that if he were Triple H, he would put Punk in the biggest feuds in the company.
Furthermore, Ray thinks if CM Punk was free of all injuries, WWE should trust him to carry the World Heavyweight Championship.
"If I’m Triple H, I’m booking Punk in the most high-profile matches I possibly can right now. [If he] comes out of it injury-free, I book him to the next level. Could CM Punk carry the WWE World Heavyweight Championship? Absolutely, no doubt in my mind.” [H/T - eWrestlingNews]
Jim Cornette wants CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre at WWE SummerSlam 2024
On the recent Jim Cornette Experience podcast, the former WWE manager explained that SummerSlam 2024 is the right stage for Punk and McIntyre to settle their differences. Cornette added that this would provide the company ample time to sell Drew McIntyre's attack on CM Punk from SmackDown.
"[SummerSlam will take place in] six weeks maybe. Remember when I said, you asked me you said, 'Well, shouldn't Drew get something back on Punk?' And I said, 'Yes, but I would hold on until I could be reasonably certain that I'm going to be able to promote the match before it would get stale,' right? I have a feeling they've got their date and they decided it won't be stale between now and then. And I think this is perfect because now he's got time to recuperate from this beating and come back and freshen this thing up and I have a feeling we'll probably see these two at SummerSlam."
For now, McIntyre is busy trying to find a place in the Men's Money in the Bank match on July 6th in Toronto. The Scottish Warrior faces Sheamus and Ilja Dragunov in the qualifier match on the upcoming edition of WWE RAW.
