"That was the God-awfulest match" - JBL and fellow WWE Hall of Famer reveals the worst match in wrestling history (Exclusive)
The WWE Universe is vocal about many things, including the best and worst matches in pro wrestling history. There have been many discussions on wrestling's pitiful performances, with even the best in-ring talents getting wrapped up in some of the worst in-ring actions. Now a certain Hall of Fame duo has just named the worst match of all time.
Among countless bad matches, some bouts are indisputably terrible, so bad that fans and critics are united in their disdain for whatever happened in the ring. WWE had Kaitlyn vs. Maxine, while AEW put on Luchasaurus vs. Cezar Bononi. Sharmell and Jenna Morasca put on an infamous TNA outing, while Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior ruined Halloween in WCW. Hall of Famers John Bradshaw Layfield and Gerald Brisco discussed the singular match that stood out in a myriad of poor matches.
Harvey Wippleman began feuding with Howard Finkel in 1992. This led to The Fink losing his in-ring debut in their first-ever Tuxedo Match on May 19, 1994, at a WWE house show. Finkel won the following night at Madison Square Garden and won the same Tuxedo Match on June 18 at a house show in Philadelphia.
The ring announcer and the manager took the match to RAW on January 9, 1995, and Fink won that bout to end the Tuxedo Match series. Fink later defeated Wippleman on May 17, 1995, in a Wrestling Challenge dark match.
John Bradshaw Layfield and Gerald Brisco discussed the match on the premiere of Sportskeeda Wrestling's What Were They Thinking with JBL & Brisco series. Brisco declared this to be the "God-awfulest" match ever.
"Harvey and Howard were always kind of going at it, and once again our illustrious leader [Vince McMahon] said lets have some fun with this, let's put them, Howard and Harvey, in a Tuxedo Match. Vince, what were you thinking when they come up with that stuff there? And you know peolpe say, 'I had an awful match!' But damn that was the God-awfulest match you ever saw in your life. Right, John?," Gerald Brisco said. [From 18:02 to 18:25]
JBL then recalled some of the worst in-ring action he's seen but declared Fink vs. Wippleman to be the worst ever. The Wrestling God did give everyone credit for being so bad, they were good.
"You know, I watched Giant Gonzalez, I saw a Viagra On A Pole match down in WCW... but I think these guys, out of all the bad matches in the history of the business, own the worst match in the history of the business. I've had some terrible matches but I feel good that mine were not even in this class. This was so bad it was entertaining. It actually worked, it brought people in," JBL said. [From 18:26 to 18:43]

WWE Hall of Famers reunited at a wrestling event
John Bradshaw Layfield and Jeff Jarrett have reunited. The WWE Hall of Famers recently ran into each other while backstage at the recent AAA Triplemania event.
Layfield posted a photo after a fan on X/Twitter after they said The Wrestling God needed to run into The Last Outlaw. The former WWE Champion teased a potential project between the two.
"I have run into @RealJeffJarrett-we have many of the same ideas on the business," JBL wrote with the photo below.
Layfield is signed to a WWE Legends contract, but unique contract terms allow him to work elsewhere. Jarrett currently works on-screen with AEW and is their Director of Business Development.
