WWE keeping huge legend's participation in Men's Royal Rumble match a secret is a must, says ex-employee

Several WWE legends are expected to compete in the 2025 Men's Royal Rumble match. A former employee of the Stamford-based company recently urged the promotion to keep a massive legend's potential participation in the bout a secret.

Last April, The Rock returned to in-ring competition after eight years to team up with Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. The match came after The Final Boss and his cousin feuded with The American Nightmare and The Visionary for several weeks. On RAW After WrestleMania, The Final Boss confronted Rhodes to promise to come after him upon his return from hiatus. The 52-year-old returned last month at Bad Blood, where he made a cryptic gesture to the Undisputed WWE Champion, Reigns, and Jimmy Uso, before leaving.

On the Behind The Turnbuckle podcast, former WWE employee Tommy Carlucci discussed the possibility of The Final Boss competing in the upcoming Royal Rumble for a shot at Rhodes' title. He stated that if The Rock would participate in the match, the company must keep it a secret:

"I don't wanna see TKO putting out a press release that The Rock is gonna be at Royal Rumble because that'll kill the whole godda*n thing. I don't wanna see that. What we were good at back in the day, Coach, and you know this and you were a big part of it working next to the chairman was kayfabe on a need-to-know basis. The best thing watching a show is being surprised," he said. [From 12:45 to 13:08]

Ex-WWE head writer thinks The Rock will win the Men's Royal Rumble match

The Rock won the Royal Rumble match only once in his legendary WWE career 24 years ago. Former head writer Vince Russo recently predicted The Final Boss would win his second next year.

On his The Brand podcast, Russo claimed The Rock would challenge Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 after winning the 2025 Men's Royal Rumble match:

"Mark this date down on your calendar please, November 7th, Vince Russo said The Rock was gonna win the Royal Rumble and he was going to face Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania. Write that down," he said.

Veteran journalist Dave Meltzer also did not rule out The Final Boss winning the upcoming Men's Royal Rumble match. It would be interesting to see if that would happen.
