WWE legend asked Triple H to never use popular move
During his illustrious WWE career, Triple H showcased a remarkable blend of athleticism, technical wrestling, and captivating storytelling. Meanwhile, wrestling legend Diamond Dallas Page (DDP) recently shared a story about requesting The King of Kings to avoid using the iconic Diamond Cutter.
In WCW, DDP rose to prominence, becoming a three-time World Heavyweight Champion and a fan favorite, before having a brief but impactful run in WWE. The 68-year-old veteran's Diamond Cutter saw him grab his opponent by the neck and slam them face-first on the mat.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, Diamond Dallas Page recalled a time when The Game used the Diamond Cutter in a match. The WWE Hall of Famer expressed concern that Triple H might improve the move, potentially overshadowing Page's finisher.
"Triple H one night, because I watched everything; if I was on the road, I'd come home, and it's all taped; he did a Diamond Cutter out of nowhere, and I was like, 'Oh god, of all people,' like, he'll make it better. That's exactly what I thought, 'He'll make it better!'" he said.
DDP subsequently called Triple H and asked if The Game could stop using the Diamond Cutter. The 14-time World Champion graciously accepted Page's request.
"I called him up. He answers his phone, and he's like, 'Hey, D!' I'm like, 'Hey, bro!' I said, 'I got [sic] a favor I want to ask you.' 'Sure, what do you need?' I go, 'Nah, don't say yes yet because I don't have the right to ask you this.' I said, 'I saw you use the Diamond Cutter the other night on a finish, and that Pedigree is super cool; I love that finisher for you, but man, that Diamond Cutter, bro, I'm just starting to get it over.' I said, 'I would so appreciate it if you wouldn't do it.' 'Sure, D!' Triple H replied. He never did it again," he added.
