WWE legend comments on the surprising end to SmackDown and the real possible masterminds behind it (Exclusive)
The build-up to Saturday Night's Main Event continued on WWE SmackDown as the latest episode of the blue brand had quite a chaotic ending. Wrestling veteran Dutch Mantell enjoyed it and felt that Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes produced a decent angle ahead of their title clash.
The show also featured an engaging in-car interview between Kevin Owens and Michael Cole earlier during the evening.
The main event saw Cody Rhodes take on Chad Gable and while the former won, he was subjected to an attack from Owens.
KO targeted Rhodes' ankle and the show went off the air with officials attempting to stop the superstars from brawling. Dutch Mantell liked the intensity of the show-closing angle and was caught off guard by the pull-apart moment before SmackDown went off the air.
Dutch noted that WWE had done more than enough to make Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens a must-watch match at Saturday Night's Main Event.
The former WWE manager said the following while speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk podcast:
"Well, they did a good job with it and I don't know who put that last match together, I think it was a collaboration of all of them, but it sounded like more of a Cody and Kevin production because they know what to do. But, they did a great job. All I'm concerned about is the fans watching it and me watching it, I enjoyed the hell out of it because it surprised me and, of course, a pull-apart. But still, it added to the match and I'll be there and I'm sure other people will be there too." [From 29:00 onwards]
Kevin Owens has been at his diabolical best in his feud against Cody Rhodes and following SmackDown, he looks like an even more menacing threat to The American Nightmare's Undisputed WWE Championship reign.
