WWE Legend Kane likens Vince McMahon controversy to U.S. Presidential debacle
The worlds of WWE and politics have intersected once again in the 2024 U.S. Presidential election - from the attempted assassination of WWE Celebrity Wing Hall of Famer Donald Trump to Hulk Hogan's viral endorsement of the 45th President, and so on. The latest debacle has continued with Kane weighing in after issuing an earlier bold statement.
President Joe Biden withdrew from the 2024 U.S. Presidential election against Donald J. Trump this weekend, amid concerns over his abilities, age, and health. The 46th President will finish his current term as of now but has already endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in the race against the former temporary owner of RAW.
Kane has been known as The Big Red Machine from his Hall of Fame wrestling career. He became The Big Red Mayor after being elected as the Republican Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee in 2018. After calling on Biden to step down from office this weekend, the wrestling legend likened the debacle surrounding Biden's withdrawal and Harris' endorsement to WWE's infamous Montreal Screwjob from 1997, which saw Vince McMahon "screw" Bret Hart.
Kane took to X and linked to the Wikipedia entry on the controversy that played out at Survivor Series 1997 during Hart's WWE Championship defense against Shawn Michaels, also involving referee Earl Hebner. The two-term Mayor said Sleepy Joe can relate. Kane used his personal account to post the jab, which has close to 100,000 views with a few thousand likes, comments, and re-posts.
"Joe Biden can relate," Kane wrote with the Wikipedia link.
Kane is currently in his second and final term as Knox County Mayor after being re-elected in 2022. This term will end in 2026, and there's talk that The Brother of Destruction may run for the office of Governor of Tennessee.
Hulk Hogan endorses WWE Hall of Famer Donald Trump
The Republican National Convention was held this past week as Donald J. Trump officially accepted the nomination for the 2024 Presidential election. The 4-day event was held a week after the attempted assassination of Trump.
One of the most viral moments from the RNC was the high-energy promo from Hulk Hogan. The WWE Hall of Famer cut a wrestling-style promo and mentioned how he's an entertainer who has tried to stay out of politics but can no longer stay quiet.
Eric Bischoff publicly reacted to The Immortal's speech and made very telling remarks on how he had never seen his longtime friend this happy. The 70-year-old legend took to Instagram and shared behind-the-scenes footage from his trip to Milwaukee for the RNC.
The Donald and The Hulkster knew each other from Trump's early work with WWE, but this was his first official political endorsement. Trump has reportedly kept in touch with Vince McMahon as of late, and his former staffer Linda McMahon also spoke at the RNC.
