WWE legend knocked out colleague twice in a bar, veteran recounts story by Ric Flair (Exclusive)
WWE legend apparently was as brutal outside the ring as he was inside, evidenced by the fact that he knocked out a colleague twice in a bar. The story came from the legend's son, Justin Race, who heard it from Ric Flair.
Harley was one of the most physically imposing stars of his time, with a no-nonsense attitude in his off-screen life. According to the story, he was apparently in a rather heated conversation with Ron Simmons in a bar, which led to them coming to blows. Harley's son Justin recalled that his father had knocked Simmons out not once but twice in the same night.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's UnSKripted, Justin recalled the story from WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair. He stated:
"(Ric) Flair told me this, somebody told me this, I think. He (Ron Simmons) was giving Dad gruff about something, and finally, Dad had enough, turned around, hit him, and knocked him out. And went back to drinking his beer. Ron woke up, came over, started giving him stuff. He hit him and knocked him out again." [19:06 onwards]
Harley Race suffered from terminal lung cancer in the later part of his life, which led to the WWE legend passing away in 2019 at the age of 76.
