WWE legend makes light of controversial Bret Hart moment on his birthday

The WWE Universe is celebrating the 67th birthday of Bret Hart today. A fellow Hall of Famer sent well wishes to Hart but also included a friendly jab over one of the most unique moments in company history.

WWE's seventh annual Royal Rumble is the only one to have two winners. Hart tried to eliminate Lex Luger for the win, but they both hit the floor at the same time. After confusion, The Hitman and The Narcissist were named co-winners. They went on to WrestleMania X, where Luger lost to then-WWE Champion Yokozuna by DQ in a 15-minute match that had Curt Hennig as the special referee. After losing the 20-minute opener to brother Owen Hart, Bret captured the title from Yokozuna in the 11-minute main event, with Roddy Piper as the special referee.

The Total Package took to X/Twitter today to wish a Happy Birthday to The Excellence Of Execution. Lex ended the message with a joke about the controversial finish in the 1994 Royal Rumble match, ruling Bret as the loser.

"@BretHart Happy Birthday to the best there is,the best there was and the best there ever will be! However... I still think you might've touched first #RoyalRumble94," Lex Luger wrote.

Luger and Hart had the more star-studded matches at WrestleMania 10. In addition to Mr. Perfect serving as referee for Luger vs. Yokozuna, actor Donnie Wahlberg was the ring announcer, and actress Rhonda Shear was the timekeeper. While Piper was the referee for the main event, actor Burt Reynolds served as ring announcer, and actress Jennie Garth was the timekeeper.

WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart on Vice TV's Who Killed WCW?

Vice TV's "Who Killed WCW?" docuseries from The Rock's Seven Bucks Productions made headlines last month due to the controversial nature of the topic.

In one episode, Bret Hart had blunt words for Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan. After sharing his thoughts on Bischoff's wrestling knowledge, The Hitman commented on what he thinks really killed World Championship Wrestling.

"That's the bond right there - Hogan and Bischoff, they're both accountable to each other. That's the secret, is that Hulk Hogan was basically the puppet master to Eric Bischoff, and Eric Bischoff, he was just a prop, and that's what killed WCW," Bret Hart said.

The Rock changed his own plans for the docuseries after watching the first few episodes. It remains to be seen what Vice TV and Seven Bucks Production will partner on next.
