WWE legend put Vince McMahon in a sleeper after refusing $250,000, says his son (Exclusive)
Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon was apparently made to submit to a submission move in real life by a legendary name. This happened after Vince made an offer of $250,000, which the other person did not appreciate.
The name in question is Harley Race, one of the toughest wrestlers in the business. Before coming to WWE, he was involved in several other promotions. In 1992, he was a major attraction at a Starrcade event, at which point Vince attempted to poach him to his own roster.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's UnSKripted, Harley's son Justin Race recalled how McMahon had offered to recruit his father right before the event, which Harley did not take kindly to.
"Vince and his wife and my mom and dad had dinner, and then after dinner, they were walking down the parking lot. They were kinda being boys, kinda back and forth with each other, and Vince offered Dad that quarter of a million dollars to go to the WWE, or (WW)F at the time, and skip Starrcade."
He added:
"And my father, there was one thing he had was integrity for the business and integrity for himself and trust and things that go with a legendary type person. And he said No. And Vince kinda went and shot on him, and Dad ended up pulling out and putting Vince in a sleeper." [27:31 onwards]
Justin Race also added that when Harley joined Vince McMahon's company later on, he was respected by the latter.
