WWE legend remembers Kevin Sullivan after this week's episode of SmackDown (Exclusive)

Former WWE manager Dutch Mantell recently commented on the death of wrestling legend Kevin Sullivan. The star passed away on August 9, 2024, aged 74.

Sullivan was a major name during the territory days of wrestling. He competed in major promotions across the globe. He even had a prominent stint in WCW as a wrestler and booker for the promotion. He worked with several WWE Hall of Famers such as Sting, The Road Warriors, and Dusty Rhodes.

This week on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, Mantell claimed he was hit hard by Sullivan's passing. The former WWE manager pointed out that Kevin was involved in a car accident earlier this year and that led to health complications.

"Kevin Sullivan, I have known him probably longer than any other guy in wrestling. We kinda started out together. We met up in a few places along the way. He was a great guy, great wife. He's had a couple of wives but very sad what happened to him. He lives in Oregon, I think, and he went to Miami to do a signing. While he was there, he was involved in an accident. I don't think he was driving though. He almost lost his leg, they were talking about amputating his leg. What he's been in here lately is a rehab facility. I thought he was doing better. I got news this morning that he passed away."

Mantell was saddened by the star's passing and extended heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

"I hate it for his family. But he was a really good guy. That one hit harder than most of them hit because I was friends with him. Not best friends, but friends for a long, long time." [2:50 onwards]

This week on SmackDown, WWE also aired a vignette honoring the life and legacy of The Taskmaster.

The wrestling industry will miss Kevin Sullivan dearly.
