WWE legend says Fastlane was flat: "I've seen some RAW shows that were better" (Exclusive)
The most recent WWE premium live event had ample star power, but Teddy Long felt the show was "flat" when all was said and done.
Fastlane had five matches, with Seth Rollins and Shinsuke Nakamura headlining the event with a Last Man Standing match for the World Heavyweight Championship. The PLE opened with Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso dethroning The Judgment Day to become the new Tag Team Champions.
The other big match saw John Cena team up with LA Knight to take on Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa. Despite the decently stacked card, Teddy Long believed that the WWE had put out better Monday Night RAW episodes in the past than Fastlane.
Long agreed with host Mac Davis' verdict on Fastlane but didn't fault WWE for having a bad night and not living up to their usual standards.
Here's what the WWE Hall of Famer had to say while reviewing Fastlane on The Wrestling Time Machine:
"Yeah, well. The little bit that I did watch on it, I'm going to kind of have to agree with Mac. It was kind of flat. I've seen some Monday Night RAW shows that were better than that last pay-per-view. But I mean, who knows? Some nights are bad. What happens really is the first match sets the tone for the rest of the night. So, if that first match was not there, then here you go." [From 05:00 to 05:28]

What did Bill Apter think about WWE Fastlane?
It was a relatively compact lineup, but Fastlane still had multiple top names booked in high-profile showdowns. One of those matches was contested for the WWE Women's Championship as IYO Sky retained her title against Charlotte Flair and Asuka in a 17-minute match.
While Bill Apter felt that the ladies had an excellent in-ring outing, he noted that some Fastlane contests seemed to have missed a beat.
The legendary journalist briefly explained:
"I felt this in some of the matches, and Mac and I had discussed this in text, too. The girls' match was really good, but it seems to be there was a beat missing at times during the match." [From 06:11 to 06:24]
Mac Davis opined that Charlotte Flair looked like the "third wheel" in the Triple Threat match, and he would have rather been more invested in a singles clash between Asuka and IYO Sky.
