WWE legend shockingly turns on his son, seemingly confirming heel turn after 14.5 years
On WWE NXT this week, we saw a legend shockingly turn on his son, possibly confirming a heel turn after 14.5 years in the sports entertainment juggernaut. The lead-up to it has gotten fans talking as well.
On this week's WWE NXT, wrestling legend William Regal was backstage with Lexis King, the son of the late great Brian Pillman. Lexis insisted on not wanting William Regal's help as he took on Regal's son, Charlie Dempsey, for the NXT Heritage Cup Championship.
It was an intense few rounds, but in a big twist, William Regal used brass knuckles on Lexis King and framed his own son, Charlie Dempsey. As a result, Dempsey lost the NXT Heritage Cup Championship to Lexis King, and William Regal seemingly turned heel for the first time in 14.5 years in WWE.
Time will tell what Shawn Michaels and the NXT team have planned for new Heritage Cup holder Lexis King and the legend William Regal. It wasn't outright presented as a betrayal but more of Regal doing what he could to help Lexis King get ahead.
Of course, Regal was officially a heel for a brief time in AEW in 2022, but in the sports entertainment juggernaut, he hasn't been a fully-fledged villain since mid-2010.
Things are going to get interesting in the Lexis King-Charlie Dempsey story arc.
