WWE legend will retire after match with Gunther, says Hall of Famer; The Ring General will end his career
Gunther may be about to wrestle a huge WWE legend in his last-ever wrestling match. There has been talk of it being a retirement match.
On The Wrestling Time Machine, speaking to Mac Davis, Bill Apter and Teddy Long talked about how The Ring General could retire Goldberg in his last-ever match.
WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long spoke about it and said that if Goldberg wanted to do the right thing and there was someone he wanted to push, like the World Heavyweight Champion, then it was right to put that person over, congratulate him, wish him good luck, and leave.
"If you wanted to do the right thing, if you got a guy there that you wanted to really push and you wanted to really do something with, then that retirement match, I'd put that guy over, get up, shake his hand, congratulate him, and wish him good luck." (3:33 - 3:46)
NWA Hall of Famer and legendary wrestling journalist, Bill Apter went on to say that Goldberg could go out on his back. He went on to say that Goldberg would lose and after that retire, congratulating The Ring General, adding even more credence to the star.
"Goldberg goes out on his back, puts Gunther over even more. Of course, there will be the critics 'Oh, Goldberg's old...' But this will add more to Gunther's classiness as a champion when the two of them shake hands." (3:50 - 4:16)
It remains to be seen how this match plays out. However, there is also a chance that Goldberg could end up winning the World Heavyweight Title from Gunther instead and retire it before retiring himself.
