WWE is losing confidence in Cody Rhodes, says veteran (Exclusive)
While Cody Rhodes is one of the most prominent superstars in WWE at the moment, a veteran thinks the likelihood of him being pushed to be the top guy in the company is dwindling.
Since The American Nightmare tasted defeat at the hands of Roman Reigns in last year's WrestleMania, he has arguably lost momentum to some degree. It is yet to be decided whether he will get a rematch with The Tribal Chief again this year, although many believe the chances are quite high.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's Writing with Russo, Vince Russo stated that he did not think pushing Cody Rhodes to the top was sensible for WWE. This could mean that Roman Reigns could defeat The Rock before WrestleMania and then, in turn, be taken down by Cody to make the latter seem stronger.
"I don't think they are feeling Cody like they wanna feel Cody. I am telling you bro I think there is a little, there is just a little lack of confidence in Cody being the guy. I feel that, I do feel that's the game plan bro. Roman's gonna go over the Rock, and then Cody is gonna win, you know that's gonna help. I just don't feel the confidence is there right now. The former WWE writer has previously criticized Cody Rhodes' segment with Shinsuke Nakamura
Vince Russo has also pointed out a rather repetitive segment involving Cody and Shinsuke Nakamura, claiming that it made The American Nightmare look like "an idiot."
Speaking on an episode of Sportskeeda's Legion of RAW, Russo stated:
"It's not only that [chuckles]. How many times is Nakamura going to sneak up on people? They have done it a million times, where he is sneaking up on people, and the crowd is selling it and Cody is standing like an idiot. Oh my god, guys, come on, how many times are you going to just keep doing the same thing over and over and over?"
