WWE make massive change following major Randy Orton announcement
Randy Orton appeared as the surprise tag team partner for Kevin Owens on the latest edition of WWE SmackDown. Following his appearance, WWE made a massive change to an upcoming show featuring The Viper.
Randy Orton is one of the biggest names in the industry, and the company plans to use his appearance to boost NXT ratings following the brand’s switch to CW Network. The show's October 8, 2024, episode is set to feature The Viper on the developmental brand.
The NXT event was originally set to take place at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Orton has been billed from St. Louis throughout his career, adding a spark to the announcement.
However, WWE has had to change plans just weeks before the massive NXT episode. The show has now been relocated to The Factory at The District in Chesterfield, Missouri from its original venue.
The Stamford-based wrestling promotion is offering refunds and exchanges at all original points of purchase. Tickets for the NXT event at The Factory at The District will go on sale next Wednesday, September 18 at 12 PM CT via Ticketmaster.
The new venue in Chesterfield is approximately 23 miles from the originally announced venue in St. Louis. Most fans of The Viper will look to make the journey just to get a glimpse of Randy Orton live.
Randy Orton failed to dethrone Gunther at WWE Bash in Berlin
The Viper made a remarkable return from injury at Survivor Series: WarGames last year. He has been performing at the highest level ever since and has competed in some big matches.
WWE seems to be protecting him from big bumps that can take a toll on his surgically repaired back. However, the veteran didn’t slow down when he challenged Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at Bash in Berlin.
Randy Orton has taken every single bump like a pro to entertain his fans even after serious surgeries to his back. It has allowed him to prove that he is back for the long run and will often be in contention for the titles on both brands. He is one of the very few superstars who is in the race to break John Cena and Ric Flair's record of most world titles.
After failing to defeat The Ring General, Orton could turn his focus to his longtime friend and protégé, Cody Rhodes. A heel turn would allow Randy Orton to challenge for the Undisputed WWE Championship down the line on the blue brand.
