WWE makes history at Clash at the Castle: Scotland

WWE pulled off another successful international Premium Live Event this past weekend as Clash at the Castle aired live from the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. The company has continued to break records in the new era, and Saturday's big event was no different.

Clash at the Castle: Scotland opened up with WWE Champion Cody Rhodes retaining over AJ Styles in an "I Quit!" match. The homegrown superstars, The Unholy Union, captured the Women's Tag Team Championship from Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair in a Triple Threat match that also included Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark.

Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn retained over Chad Gable, while Women's Champion Bayley retained over Scottish mega-star Piper Niven, despite the hometown support. The main event saw CM Punk make a surprise appearance to help World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest retain over Drew McIntyre.

Triple H spoke to the media after Clash at the Castle and revealed that the PLE set a new record for the largest arena gate in World Wrestling Entertainment history. The record set by Backlash PLE last month was already shattered in Glasgow this weekend.

The company announced an attendance of 11,391 fans at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on Saturday. The actual attendance number and gate numbers should be revealed soon. The company previously announced 11,628 fans in attendance at the LDLC Arena in Lyon, France, for Backlash.

Triple H congratulates new WWE champions

World Wrestling Entertainment presented five championship matches at Saturday's Clash at the Castle PLE in Glasgow, Scotland. However, there was only one title change on the evening.

The second match of the night saw The Unholy Union capture the Women's Tag Team Championship in front of their compatriots. Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre defeated Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair, plus the team of Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler.

Triple H praised the duo after the match on X. The Chief Content Officer included one of his signature backstage photos.

"Congratulations to @IslaDawn and @wwe_alba on a massive, statement-making hometown victory. What a night for your NEW WWE Women's Tag Team Champions," Triple H wrote.

Fyre and Dawn are expected to find out about their first challengers on this week's RAW. A title defense is rumored for Money In the Bank on July 6, if not before then.
