WWE makes a major announcement about Kevin Owens' future after he was banned from SmackDown

Kevin Owens has had a rocky few months in WWE, ever since he turned heel and attacked Cody Rhodes after Bad Blood. The former Universal Champion has been punished multiple times since then.

The latest issue came after Owens hit Randy Orton with a piledriver last week, seriously injuring The Viper. Cody Rhodes wanted to confront him tonight on SmackDown, but Nick Aldis revealed that the KO situation was being dealt with internally.

Furthermore, Kevin Owens revealed in a self-recorded promo that he showed up at the arena in Milwaukee but was turned away. The Prizefighter then announced that Nick Aldis lifted his ban, allowing him to confront The American Nightmare next Friday.

Shortly after this, WWE announced that Rhodes and Owens would have a face-to-face on SmackDown next week. This confirms the Canadian star is indeed allowed on the show again, following what happened between him and Randy Orton.

This would be their first direct interaction since the backstage attack at Bad Blood, not counting the segment where Cody and KO were held back by security guards. It remains to be seen what happens between the two of them.

An Undisputed WWE Championship match at Survivor Series seems like the ideal destination, but recent reports suggest otherwise. Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens is allegedly being saved for Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14.
