WWE makes major change to controversial RAW segment
WWE puts on several hours of live television every week, with dozens of performers and multiple storylines going at once. It's a given that there will be botches, mishaps, and unscripted incidents. New information shows how extra effort was put into clearing a recent controversy on the red brand.
Carlito found himself in hot water after the RAW episode on October 21. The original segment saw the Judgment Day member enter the office of Adam Pearce right as IYO SKY and Kairi Sane were leaving. The WWE veteran seemingly admired the Damage CTRL members and commented to the RAW General Manager that he needed to learn how to speak Chinese, presumably so that he could get to know Sane and SKY.
Carlito received immediate backlash from fans and analysts on social media as Sane and SKY are Japanese. It was later reported that the line was unscripted and that some within WWE could not believe that the line was even used.
WWE has removed the Carlito line from the official RAW replay on Peacock. As seen below, the segment now has the audio cut, while the shot focuses on Pearce as Damage CTRL exits his office, and most of Carlito is briefly cropped out.
Officials originally removed the line from all digital clips, but now the Peacock edit has been confirmed with the new upload of the October 21 episode. There had been reports of heat on Carlito, but still no word on any kind of action being taken.
WWE RAW update for next week
World Wrestling Entertainment will return to the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, AZ for Monday's RAW. This will be the red brand go-home episode before Survivor Series: WarGames.
Two notable matches are now confirmed for RAW. Nia Jax will face Bianca Belair to determine who gets the advantage in the Women's WarGames Match. The second bout will see The New Day take on Alpha Academy as Xavier Woods hopes a win will get him and Kofi Kingston back on the same page.
Several other top superstars are also booked to be at RAW for the final Survivor Series build. The WWE and arena websites have the following names listed: Gunther, Liv Morgan, Finn Balor, Raquel Rodriguez, Jey Uso, Sami Zayn, Drew McIntyre, Damian Priest, Seth Rollins, and R-Truth. Cody Rhodes is set to face Solo Sikoa in a dark match, while LA Knight vs. Santos Escobar is also advertised as a dark main event.
