WWE is making a big mistake with John Cena's final run, veteran fears (Exclusive)

According to a veteran, John Cena's final run in WWE may be on the cusp of being mishandled. The Cenation Leader has already confirmed that the upcoming WrestleMania will be his last ever.

Cena returned at Money in the Bank this year, immediately announcing that he will be closing out his wrestling career in 2025. The statement made waves in the pro-wrestling community, leading to speculation about his final opponent. Despite John Cena having enjoyed an exceptional career, veteran Vince Russo believes WWE may still take advantage of the legend's kindness.

Speaking on Sportskeeda's Writing with Russo, the former Head Writer explained:

"John Cena is a guy that hasn't forgotten his roots and where he came from. With that being said, he is always looking to give back, which is very cool of him. Always looking to give back to the wrestling company. He doesn't forget his roots. But the only thing I hope they don't bro, and I kinda think they did this with Austin Theory. Bro if John Cena is gonna put people over the last year, make it mean something. Don't have him put over an Austin Theory when Austin Theory is just gonna wind up being another name on the card. WWE could still hurt John Cena's legacy, says Vince Russo

According to Vince Russo, John Cena's giving tendency may lead to him getting poorly booked in his final run.

Adding to his comments on the same episode of Writing with Russo, the veteran talked about how Cena needed to be careful not to tarnish his history in the company. He stated:

"I think Cena is so nice and so giving that he wouldn't say anything. But John's gotta be careful bro. If they are gonna use you to pass the torch, bro you gotta make sure they are gonna do something with that person. Otherwise it really hurts the legacy." [6:52 onwards]

As of now, only time will tell how John Cena's final WWE run will pan out.
