WWE may have massive plans for Roman Reigns and CM Punk after WarGames match, says analyst
Last night on WWE SmackDown, Paul Heyman returned to introduce CM Punk as the fifth member of the OG Bloodline ahead of the faction's upcoming Men's WarGames Match against the new Bloodline. Addressing the subject, WWE analyst Sam Roberts claimed the company might have a massive plan for The Best in The World and Roman Reigns after the Survivor Series: WarGames Premium Live Event.
Punk has been absent from television for over a month since the Monday Night RAW after Bad Blood 2024. The Second City Saint surprisingly returned last night on SmackDown, as Paul Heyman revealed him as the OG Bloodline's fifth member. The Best in The World then fought alongside his Survivor Series: WarGames teammates as they brawled with Solo Sikoa and Co. during the closing moments of the show.
However, the segment saw the 46-year-old have a staredown with the Original Tribal Chief as the show ended. On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Roberts claimed that the Triple H-led creative team seemingly planted the seeds for a future match between the two massive superstars by having them join forces for the Men's WarGames Match.
"The idea that we're gonna see Roman Reigns and CM Punk on the same team, which only plants seeds for a future match between Roman Reigns and CM Punk, is so, like, the minute you see those guys together and realize that it's all right there in front of you. You've got two years of stories right there in front of us," he said. [20:54-21:16]
The WWE analyst explained why CM Punk joined the OG Bloodline for Survivor Series: WarGames
On the same edition of Notsam Wrestling, Sam Roberts discussed why CM Punk agreed to team up with Roman Reigns and the OG Bloodline after many other superstars refused.
While acknowledging the connection between The Second City Saint and Paul Heyman, the RAW Talk host also pointed out that Punk being unaffected by Reigns' "reign of terror" as The Tribal Chief could have been a factor.
"The thing that makes CM Punk somebody that makes more sense as a partner to that [OG] Bloodline than pretty much anybody else on the roster is that CM Punk wasn't in the WWE for Roman Reigns' reign of terror. CM Punk was in the WWE for the last January, February, and March—three months of Roman Reigns' title reign. He was unaffected in anyway shape or form by the [OG] Bloodline," he said.
CM Punk last faced Roman Reigns in a one-on-one match in 2014. The encounter ended in the Original Tribal Chief's victory. It will be interesting to see if the ongoing storyline leads to another in-ring battle between the two.
