WWE Official Ava gets into heated backstage confrontation; top star furious for "taking the blame"

Eddy Thorpe had been facing tough times on WWE NXT in recent weeks. However, the 34-year-old star finally turned things around last week when he tricked General Manager Ava into granting him an NXT Championship match against Trick Williams for this week's episode.

Thorpe later admitted that he had faked his own backstage attack a few weeks ago to secure the title shot. During this week’s WWE NXT, Ava confronted Thorpe backstage, accusing him of taking a shortcut. Despite the disapproval, she acknowledged that the contract was already signed, leaving her with no power to change the situation.

Thorpe responded, saying he worked smarter, not harder. He said that Ava could call him anything she wanted, but by the end of the night, she would have no choice but to call him the NXT Champion.

"It doesn't feel good, does it? Taking the blame for something you didn't do? You want to know how many times I've heard, 'Work smarter, not harder?' That's all I did. You'd probably have screwed me in the Iron Survivor anyways. So, you can call me whatever you want, Ava, but by the end of tonight, you will call me the new NXT Champion," Thorpe said.
