WWE official surprisingly reveals he will be absent from SmackDown
An important figure will not be present for tonight's edition of WWE SmackDown in South Carolina.
Tonight's show is essential as WWE builds toward Night of Champions at the Jeddah Superdome in Saudi Arabia on May 27th. A new World Heavyweight Champion will be determined when AJ Styles and Seth Rollins square off in the World Heavyweight Championship tournament finals at the premium live event.
Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will be teaming up with Solo Sikoa to battle Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens for the Undisputed Tag Team Championships next week. The two teams are scheduled for a face-to-face meeting tonight on SmackDown, but an important authority figure will not be present tonight to keep things in order.
WWE official Adam Pearce responded to two referees trapped in an elevator earlier today who were jokingly pleading for help. He noted that he could not come to their assistance because he had tonight off.
"Of course I’m off today and can’t make fun of you/come to your rescue," tweeted Adam Pearce.
Wrestling veteran wants Erich Bischoff to take over for Adam Pearce in WWE
Former WWE writer Vince Russo would like to see Eric Bischoff as an authority figure in the company because at least fans would know somebody is in charge.
Adam Pearce has done a fine job despite a lot thrown on his plate. Chelsea Green returned to the company in January and hasn't let Adam Pearce enjoy a moment of silence since she came back. Pearce cannot seem to keep superstars such as Brock Lesnar under control, and security guards are often demolished on television.
Speaking on a recent edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW show, wrestling veteran Vince Russo suggested that Eric Bischoff returns to the company as an authority figure:
"Look how this match was made. How do you guys take each other seriously? A guy walks up to another wrestler, says something, the other wrestler walks over, they got a match next week. This is what happens when you have an authority figure like Adam Pearce that doesn’t mean anything. I’ve been saying that forever. If Eric Bischoff is running the show, these guys ain’t making matches like this. We know there’s somebody in charge," Vince Russo said. (1:03:30 - 1:04:30)
Eric Bischoff appeared during this year's draft and announced some selections. Only time will tell if the 67-year-old will ever return to the company regularly in the future.
