WWE officially announces Rey Mysterio is getting a "special" tag team partner soon

Rey Mysterio is getting a new special tag team partner soon at an upcoming event. The star is yet to speak on who it may be.

On August 16, 17, & 18, the Fanatics Fest will be taking place in New York, featuring athletes and stars from major sports. The NFL, The NBA and WNBA, WWE, UFC, NHL, MLB, and more have been already announced to be participating. Actors and performers will also be appearing at the fest.

It is being called the first-ever immersive sports festival, and while fans will get a chance to get photos and autographs from their idols and celebrities, there will be multiple events taking place within the fest. Multiple top WWE stars are advertised for the show, with Cody Rhodes, Rhea Ripley, CM Punk, Jey Uso, Jade Cargill, Drew McIntyre, and a lot more set to appear.

WWE announced that on August 17, Rey Mysterio will make an appearance at the fest as well. Now, the official announcement has gone out, and as it turns out, it appears that Mysterio will be getting a special guest tag team partner at the event as well. The company made the announcement on their social media handles earlier today.

They have kept the identity of the tag team partner a surprise. Mysterio is yet to speak about it as well.

Rey Mysterio lost to his son Dominik Mysterio

While Rey Mysterio has mostly picked up wins when battling his son Dominik, ever since the latter betrayed him, things changed recently.

Liv Morgan's involvement finally saw Dominik get what he wanted most - a win over his father. This came in a mixed tag bout against his father and Zelina Vega where he teamed with Liv.

Mysterio is waiting to get back into action on WWE TV since then, but in his absence, he appears to be supporting Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest, given the two are battling Liv and Dominik next at Bash in Berlin.
