WWE officially confirms popular star severely injured after title match against Gunther; announces 6 to 9 month absence on RAW
On WWE RAW this week, the company officially confirmed that a star had suffered an injury after a match against Gunther. With that being the case, unfortunately, it's a severe one that will keep him out of action for six to nine months.
Over the weekend, at the WWE Supershow live event, Ilja Dragunov faced Gunther in a title match. The World Heavyweight Champion walked away with the win. Unfortunately, during the match, Dragunov suffered an injury.
On WWE RAW this week, the announcers officially confirmed that Ilja Dragunov had not only suffered an injury - it was a bad one. He had torn his ACL. They added that the medical team had evaluated him and discovered that the injury would keep him out for at least six to nine months.
They went on to wish him well. WWE has also posted a message on Twitter/X wishing him a swift return and recovery.
"BREAKING: @UNBESIEGBAR_ZAR sustained an injury during a match with @Gunther_AUT this past weekend. He is expected to be out 6-9 months. We wish Dragunov a speedy recovery. #WWERaw," the tweet read.
Fans will have to wait for more details, as the star has not spoken about the injury yet.
