WWE had plans to split popular SmackDown team; Bill Apter shares his thoughts (Exclusive)
Sportskeeda Senior Editor Bill Apter recently spoke about the tag team division in WWE at the moment. The entire division has been shaken up with the arrival of The Motor City Machine Guns.
One of the biggest tag teams lost in the shuffle are the Street Profits. The duo of Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford were in the tag team contenders tournament but couldn't make it out of the first round. Ford has been frustrated with the team's performance of late, leading to speculations of a possible split.
During a recent Q&A session this week, Apter mentioned that it was possibly too late to split them up. The veteran journalist pointed out that there was a fine timeframe where WWE fans were interested in seeing the split but that window has closed:
"I think it's too late. They were talking about it, it didn't happen. And right now I think it's past the fact that people want to see them (Street Profits) separately." [From 31:00 onwards]
This past week on Smack Talk, Montez Ford again said that they came so close and yet could grab the titles. The star was vocal about the pent-up frustration coming with every failure. However, he was interrupted by Pretty Deadly.
The two tandems got into a verbal smackdown setting up an encounter between them for this week's episode of WWE SmackDown.
