WWE has planted the seeds for ex-World Champion's return after over 2 years of absence, says Freddie Prinze Jr.
A former WWE Champion has been absent from weekly programming since March 2022. Former writer for World Wrestling Entertainment Freddie Prinze Jr. recently predicted that the star would return to save his faction.
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of The New Day have had tension over the past several weeks, leading fans to believe they were heading towards a split as they approach New Day's 10th anniversary. Meanwhile, the faction's third member, Big E, has been out of action since suffering a serious neck injury on SmackDown over two years ago. Speaking on his Wrestling with Freddie podcast, Prinze Jr. predicted the imminent return of the 38-year-old.
The Hollywood star claimed that the Stamford-based company, creatively led by Triple H, had planted the seeds for the former WWE Champion's comeback amidst the ongoing drama between Kingston and Woods, pointing out that it was nothing but a distraction.
"I disagree they're gonna break up. I think that all this has been what a magician does where he shows you something shiny in the one hand and in the other hand is where the trick's actually happening. And all this drama and all this beefcake that Kofi and Xavier are having is a distraction. And before they actually break up or right after they break up, there's going to be some glue that returns to the WWE, the largest jar of glue in the world, and that glue is named Big E," he said.
Prinze Jr. disclosed that he believes Big E would save The New Day and get the group back together on the same page upon his imminent return.
"And I think Big E is coming back and I think he's gonna save The New Day from themselves whether it's post-breakup or right before the breakup and he's going to bring them back together. He's like the sun and they're the planets and they're gonna gravitate around them and start circling faster and faster until, you know, the earth explodes and we all die. But I don't think they're gonna break up or like I said, if they do, that's when Big E will come in and be like, 'Gentlemen, gentlemen, what are we doing? We're brothers. We started this together. We're gonna end it together,'" he added. [4:06 - 5:18]

WWE analyst Sam Roberts agrees with Freddie Prinze Jr.
On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts discussed the potential split of The New Day amid the apparent tension between Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods on Monday Night RAW.
The 41-year-old predicted that the historic faction would not split. Instead, Big E would return this month to celebrate The New Day's 10th anniversary and bring everyone back together.
"I do think The New Day is not gonna break up. I think we're gonna see Big E rejoin The New Day for their 10th anniversary. They're back together again," he said.
While Big E has not been on WWE's weekly shows, the 38-year-old has been playing other roles, including being a pre-show panelist for premium live events. It would be interesting to see if he will indeed return to reunite with The New Day.
