WWE possibly dropped a subtle hint on Cody Rhodes' next opponent during SmackDown

WWE may have subtly suggested who Cody Rhodes' upcoming challenger for the Undisputed WWE Title might be. The American Nightmare could find himself squaring off against none other than his former mentor Randy Orton.

Orton and Rhodes go way back. Early on in his career, Cody became a member of Randy's Legacy faction. The stable wreaked havoc on the roster as top heels in the company.

This week on SmackDown, Randy Orton and Kevin Owens helped Rhodes fight off The Bloodline. The three babyfaces confronted the stable during the opening segment and a huge brawl broke out. After clearing the ring, Cody got on the mic to share his thoughts.

The American Nightmare claimed he should have been defending the Undisputed WWE Title in MSG but instead, he was still fighting The Bloodline. Just when Rhodes mentioned the title, Orton quickly turned his head, staring at the champ. This fueled rumors online that The Apex Predator could be looking for an opportunity to strike at the champion.

Cody Rhodes will team up with Randy Orton and Kevin Owens at Money in the Bank

It will be an uphill task for Cody Rhodes when he faces The Bloodline at Money in the Bank. However, this time The American Nightmare will have Kevin Owens and Randy Orton by his side during the encounter. The two sides will collide in a six-man tag team match at the premium live event.

The full brutality of The Bloodline was on display this week as the members attacked Paul Heyman when he refused to acknowledge Solo Sikoa as the new Tribal Chief. The stable decimated the Hall of Famer and triple powerbombed him through the announcer's table. The Wiseman was taken to a hospital in an ambulance after the assault.

It will be interesting to see if Randy Orton betrays his former protege at Money in the Bank.
