WWE pulled off a unique booking choice with Cody Rhodes and Gunther's story, says veteran (Exclusive)
The match between Cody Rhodes and Gunther at WWE Crown Jewel 2024 certainly turned out to be all it promised. However, according to a veteran, what happened afterward was worth commending.
Despite Gunther being known as someone who always sees himself above his opponents, many fans were surprised to see him showing respect to The American Nightmare despite losing. In another segment on RAW, The Ring General also defended Cody, who was verbally bashed by Ludwig Kaiser, teasing a character change.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, legendary journalist Bill Apter shared his thoughts on the matter. He said:
"The way that they moved this on now is that Gunther is complimenting Cody Rhodes, he is telling Cody it's not finished. But on Monday Night RAW recently, he said to Ludwig Kaiser who was putting Cody down verbally. He said don't say anything bad about Cody. He was the better man that night, I am not done with him. But he won fairly, and he respected him. So, very classy." [From 07:12 onwards]
Another veteran recently speculated Gunther losing his title to a WWE legend
WCW veteran Disco Inferno believes The Ring General's title could possibly be booked to change hands to none other than Goldberg.
The ringside confrontation between Gunther and Goldberg at Bad Blood got many fans talking about what was next. According to Disco on Keepin' it 100, this could be the setup for one last WWE title run for Da Man.
"Obviously, the point of him [Goldberg] vs. Gunther, which I think could be good verbal build-up for the battle, and then a compelling match-up. Especially, if Gunther still has the belt. I wonder if they would let Goldberg go over in his retirement and let him win the belt like for them to have to come back and have one more. I don't know. I think there's value in Goldberg for sure. 100%," Inferno said. [From 01:07 to 01:37]
The WCW legend announced that he will retire next year, only time will tell what WWE has planned for Goldberg.
