WWE questions current champion following his actions on SmackDown

WWE has questioned a popular star following his actions on last week's edition of the blue brand. The promotion is currently building toward Clash at the Castle next weekend in Glasgow, Scotland.

Tommaso Ciampa battled Austin Theory in a singles match during last week's episode of WWE SmackDown with Johnny Gargano and Grayson Waller at ringside.

Wade Barrett claimed during the match that Austin Theory must still be wishing he was in The Way faction and Grayson Waller overheard him. Waller freaked out and took credit for Austin Theory becoming relevant again.

"What did you say? The Way? The way these flops don't belong in the ring with us. What about the way Johnny Gargano held him back? What about the way Austin Theory is relevant again because of the Grayson Waller rub?!" she said. [From 00:14 - 00:27]

In the video, Austin Theory can be seen wondering why the Australian star would say such a thing. WWE added fuel to the fire today and asked Waller directly if he meant what he said in the post below.

"Did you mean this @GraysonWWE??? #SmackDown," he wrote.

WWE veteran predicts Austin Theory will be a star

WWE SmackDown star Randy Orton sees a lot of potential in Austin Theory and believes he will become a World Champion down the line.

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Bill Apter, The Viper discussed Theory's potential moving forward. He said he has had several talks with the former United States Champion and believes he has the chance to capture a major title in the company.

"It's hard, I don't have a crystal ball or anything, but Austin Theory is young and he's got a great look. I know where his head's at. I've had plenty of talks with him, and a lot of the things that I did as a kid that I maybe shouldn't have, the distractions that I was confronted with, he doesn't have those. I think he's just a little more gung ho, motivated. He sees the goal, he sees the prize, he knows what he wants. I think he'll definitely be a world champion one day," Orton said. [1:33 – 2:08]

Austin Theory defeated John Cena at WrestleMania 39 but was unable to capitalize on the momentum. It will be interesting to see if the 26-year-old becomes a major star in the promotion in the years to come.
