WWE RAW star thanks Triple H for his support
Triple H oversaw the creative direction of WWE's NXT brand for a decade before taking on the same role with the main roster in 2022. In a recent interview, RAW star Damian Priest revealed how The Game has helped him every step of the way throughout his WWE career.
In 2018, Priest joined WWE after making a name for himself as Punishment Martinez in Ring of Honor. The 41-year-old won the NXT North American Championship under Triple H's leadership before moving to the main roster in 2021.
Priest said on Squared Circle Pit that WWE's Chief Content Officer has always been supportive since his early days with the company and very thankful to the legend for all he had done for him.
"Since my NXT days, he's another one that really truly believed in me when a lot of people had cast me aside. He really thought I could do a lot of good things in the business. Now that we're in the Paul Levesque era and him taking full control, he continued that mindset of believing in me but also guiding me," declared Priest. [5:52 – 6:14]
Priest has been a member of The Judgment Day since 2022. His fellow faction members include Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, and Rhea Ripley.
Damian Priest elaborates on Triple H's belief in him
On April 7, Damian Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank contract at WrestleMania XL to win the World Heavyweight Championship from Drew McIntyre. As WWE's creative figurehead, Triple H was ultimately responsible for booking the title change.
Priest added that The King of Kings continues to be a great mentor and still gives him advice about certain things he can do to improve his character.
"To this day, he'll pull me aside and tell me like, 'Hey, think about this, think about that.' He's a constant mentor as well as being my boss. I can't thank him enough for the opportunities he's granted me and, again, the trust and believing in me." [6:15 – 6:30]
In the same interview, Priest also revealed which WWE Hall of Famer he would welcome as a new Judgment Day member.
